Position Overview

As a Process Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment while contributing to meaningful projects and initiatives. You will be located at our plastics manufacturing facility in Streetsboro, Ohio, where you will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to various aspects of our production process. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will gain valuable insights into the manufacturing industry and develop essential skills relevant to your academic and career path.

What You’ll Do

Process Optimization

- Collaborate with cross functional teams and leadership to design and implement optimized processes that enhance operational efficiency and product quality.

- Identify issues and root causes through data collection, problem solving methodologies and direct observation; conveying avenues for transformation to management and front line staff

- Develop and create simple machines to automate tasks in operations.

- Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate technical drafting and design project activities from concept through completion.

Continuous Improvement

- Participate in Kaizen events focused on rapid process improvement and drive implementation.

- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices and innovative solutions.

- Conduct regular process audits and provide recommendations for optimization.

- Documentation of current processes, including work instructions and standard operating procedures.

Safety & Quality Assurance

- Conducts research, analytical studies and testing to improve the plastic molding and forming processes. Implements changes or modifications to machinery, layout processes and/ or materials to improve quality and safety.

- Champion safe practices in the workplace

Qualifications

- Student majoring in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Plastics, Manufacturing, or a similar field.

- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

- Demonstrates a creative and innovative approach to identifying potential solutions to complex problems.

- Excellent computer skills, including strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite

- Takes initiative, demonstrates follow-through, and works well independently as well as part of a team.

- Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, analytical and formal presentation skills, with ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization, as well as with customers.

- This internship position is for the duration of the Summer, with flexible start and end dates to accommodate academic schedules.
